A Buddy Heater was just the perfect way to take off the morning chill and get the day started. My 9:00 was my poster patient who is scarily compliant but gets results. She is also my only patient that endured a perforated colon from a "routine" colonoscopy with a perfectly normal colon. She had to wear a colostomy bag for 6 months and became allergic to the adhesive .A nightmare beyond belief ! I have never parroted the standard rules of mandatory anything since. Risk benefit ratio must ALWAYS be weighed on an individual basis.
Sheba's worm appointment was at 10:30 in Rice,MN 30 minutes away. Turning the Casita around proved to be easier said than done so I wasted another 10 minutes but it turned out to be an all woman vet clinic and therefore as great as my boondocker host had told me. Yes she has worms . What kind doesn't even matter as VIRBANTEL kills them all in one dose. Hook Tape, Round, and whip. And yes she could have gotten any of them from using baby rabbits and mice as toys at the ranch.
I knew I had been derelict in not giving her Heart worm prevention so agreed to the blood test that detects heart worm, lyme disease, and several other tick-borne diseases. Thankfully all came back negative but Sheba was not pleased wIth any of it. Between the blood draw the shot for heart worm prevention and the anal gland ordeal this "unconditional love " stuff was severely compromised.
We got home in time to grab some lunch, finish the morning patient chart ,take a brief nap and prepare for the 4 o'clock patient who turned out to be the husband of a patient.. She had been harassing him for years to get on board and he finally succumbed and hopefully he's glad he did so as we found several areas that sorrily needed attention.
Just as I finished Dwayne showed up with his chainsaw on a pole and proceeded to start cutting branches that were causing too much shade on the grass on both properties but particularly over the ruts he was trying to reseed that he had made with his marvelous litte dump truck/plow/scoop/tractor. It was amazing but he was afraid to put it in 4 wheel drive as that's how it caused the ruts in the lawn, His wife,Jen, a hard working, flower gardener, joined us in piling three loads of branches on the truck/tractor and hauling them up the hill to his vacant lot currently housing Jake's boat , camper and stuff.
Mosquitoes were noticing my aroma so it was time to get inside to finish my bookwork and call it a good and blessed day.
