Waking up to the pitter patter of raindrops on the roof reminded me of my childhood bedroom in the attic.A very cozy, secure feeling however finding a puddle on the floor was disconcerting. No, Sheba didn't do it!. It was dripping from the ceiling slow and steady as was the rain. My 15 below sleeping bag actually felt good in the cold damp air.
Only one patient today that truthfully was mostly a social visit with a patient /friend going back to my days at St. Vincent DePaul in Houston. She "collects" old people and helps them with everything from being power of attorney to bringing in food. My diagnosis is "Can't say NO syndrome.
Today's major goal was to clean, organize ,fix , and decorate the Casita. Before I could leave the house, however, I just had to do something about the beautiful granite fireplace mantle on which Joan Riley's memorabilia lay in thick dust and disorder. I think she would not have approved, so I took in upon myself to spiffy up her place of honor.
Getting new casters on the roll under bed drawer was the most important job but of course I couldn't find the screw/washer/locknuts that I had purposely bought in St.Paul . Just as I was about to use a hodgepodge of screws I scrounged up, my night in shinning armor appeared- yes, Dwayne the marvelous neighbor. Abracadabra and whalla functioning casters that will never come loose!.
I learned that he plays ice hockey with a pick up league on wed nights at 8 :45 so I had to go see an indoor ice hockey rink and Dwayne play. He had had his regular 6 month knee injections just this morning but played any way. The oldest guy on the team and my kind of prince!
